Hi8, B & W, 38 minutes, New York 1991

This is the journal of my trip to New York in March 1991.
I had planned to go there months before in order to meet the poet and filmmaker Jonas Mekas. In between time, the Gulf War broke out like a nightmare from which I could not awaken. I got to New York almost in a state of depression. But something happened on my way to the city. As we crossed the Triboro Bridge, I was suddenly brought back to life and I decided to “celebrate” everything I saw as a way of mourning the forgotten dead of this unseen war.
